Eight CU hoopsters named MSC Scholar-Athletes

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average or better through the end of the fall 2013 semester

Eight Cumberland basketball players – five women and three men -- were named Mid-South Conference Scholar-Athletes last week in advance of the conference tournament, as announced by the league office.

Women’s players Tasia Blue, Calamity Jane Coley, Layce Colter, Maryann Fenner and Andrea Morrisett along with men’s players Daniel McFadden, Cameron Prather and Terry Williams were all honored by the conference office. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average or better through the end of the fall 2013 semester.

Blue holds a 3.54 GPA in business administration, while Coley has a 3.30 in Biology and Colter carries a 3.49 in athletic training. Fenner has posted a 3.72 in health and human performance and Morrisett, a Friendship Christian graduate, owns a 3.69 in health and human performance.

McFadden holds a 3.69 GPA with a double major in psychology and business, Prather has a 3.32 in health and human performance and Williams maintains a 3.67 in business.

A total of 13 men and 43 women from the 10 Mid-South Conference institutions were named to the list.
