WATERTOWN — Watertown dominated Smith County 16-1 in four innings Friday at Three Forks Park.
The Tigerettes jumped to a 6-0 first-inning lead and never looked back in improving to 2-1.
Tiffany Tomlinson pitched three innings before Brittney Pryor worked the fourth.
Bailey Griffin and Allison Bouton posted matching 3-for-3 numbers with two RBI apiece at the plate. Tomlinson and Lauren Robertson each knocked in three runs on two hits. Leanna Warren hit a two-run triple in the second inning while Pryor and Emily Gleason each singled and picked up an RBI. Hailey Lasater lashed a double and McKay Hill a single.
Watertown will travel to Westmoreland on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game.
Central splits pair at Commando Classic
HENDERSONVILLE — Wilson Central continued preliminary play in the Commando Classic by splitting a pair of games Thursday at Drakes Creek Park.
The Lady Wildcats spanked Sycamore 6-2 in a four-inning game as Morgan Powell allowed three hits and a walk while striking out seven.
All six scores came in the top of the third inning. Singles by Karlie Odum, Keily Preston, Claire Smith and Kelsey Tomlin were followed by a Kendall Eden drove in a run and Katie Eakes cracked her second homer of the season, a three-run shot to center field.
Central followed with a 4-1 loss to Daniel Boone, also in four frames, as eight Lady Wildcats were left on base, including three in the first inning.
Daniel Boone scored three times in the top of the second inning. Central committed four errors, making just two of the runs earned against Hannah Bodenhorn [1-2], who allowed seven hits and two walks while whiffing nine.
Tomlin and Brittany Wiseman each had two hits and Powell and Eakes one apiece for Central as the Lady Wildcats fell to 3-3 going into Friday’s pool play.
