Cumberland’s Courtney Maynard earned the Softball Pitcher of the Week honor from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday for her performance from March 10-16.
Maynard earned three victories and allowed just three earned runs in 20.0 innings of work covering four appearances for the Bulldogs. The Lancaster native struck out eight and gave up just three hits and three runs in a 4-3 win over Campbellsville.
The right-hander posted seven strikeouts in five shutout innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Bluefield and allowed one unearned run on one hit in three more innings in the second contest. Maynard finished the week with five shutout frames at Pikeville, giving up five hits with six strikeouts.
Maynard is 9-1 this season with a 1.34 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 68 innings of work heading into Tuesday’s doubleheader against Lindsey Wilson. The Bulldogs will play host to Georgetown College and the University of the Cumberlands in twin bills this weekend as well.
