Winfree Bryant blasts Smith County 19-4 in opener

SOUTH CARTHAGE — Winfree Bryant opened its softball season Thursday with a 19-4 win over host Smith County at Crump Paris Park.

The Lady Aviators finished with 20 hits, including three from Macy Lee, who drove in two runs, scored three times and stole four bases.

Makiah Prince drove in five runs on a grand slam and a single. She walked three times, scored five runs and stole four bases.

Bailey Lasater knocked in three runs on three singles while Megan Jaselskis had two RBI on as many hits, including a homer, and scored three times. Emily Jones singled twice.

Brittany Harris allowed three hits in four innings for the win before Michaela O’Connell fired the fifth to finish up.

Winfree Bryant will play host to Macon County on Monday.
