MT. JULIET — Friendship Christian cracked three home runs and Jackson Vance held Mt. Juliet Christian to five hits in a 10-0 five-inning baseball victory Tuesday.
The Commanders scored nine runs in the third inning, including two-run homers by Steven Hollis and Michael Hawks and a solo shot by Vance.
Even Friendship’s outs scored runs as Hawks hit sacrifice flies in the first and third innings and Jacob Self also supplied one. Vance also hit an RBI double.
Joseph McNamee and Milam Copeland as they, Hollis and Cody Walker each had two hits and Cade Ramsey one as the Commanders climbed to 6-8 for the season and 4-0 in the East-Middle District 1-A.
Vance walked one and struck out three.
Friendship will play host to Macon County in a 4 p.m. double header Thursday.
Lebanon outslugs Portland 17-13
PORTLAND — Lebanon scored 11 runs in the fourth inning and the Blue Devils went on to win a 17-13 District 9-AAA slugfest over Portland on Tuesday night.
The Panthers led 7-3 going into Lebanon’s big inning. The Blue Devils finished the game with 19 hits to Portland’s 12.
Bryce Lester had four of the hits and drove in three runs. Jackson Arnold also had three RBI as he singled twice and doubled. Leadoff batter Eddie McDaniels had three hits and scored three runs.
Winning pitcher Nolan Chambers drove in two runs and tripled. Connor Harris doubled as he, Matt Bell and Caleb Young banged out two hits each. Nick Sanders also picked up a pair of RBI.
Steven Martin doubled and homered for Portland.
Lebanon improved to 8-7 and will play host to District 9-AAA rival Hendersonville at 7 p.m. tonight at Brent Foster Field.
Smith pitches Mt. Juliet by Hendersonville
HENDERSONVILLE — Austin Smith pitched a five-inning two-hitter Tuesday night to lead Mt. Juliet past Hendersonville 12-2 at Drakes Creek Park.
Smith struck out 10 to improve his record to 3-1.
Marshall Gei drove in four runs and Zach Ehrhart two on two hits each as Mt. Juliet finished with 10. The Golden Bears improved to 13-2-1 for the season and 3-1 in district play.
Brentwood will visit Mt. Juliet at 5 p.m. Friday in a rematch of last year’s sectional won by the Bruins.
