LAVERGNE — Cameron Woodfin’s third hat trick in four games lifted Mt. Juliet to a 3-1 win over LaVergne on Tuesday.

The Golden Bears led 1-0 at halftime.

Austin Coleman, Tanner Dabell and David Siever supplied assists for Mt. Juliet while Austin Twomey had four saves.

Chris Prybilla, Zack Hinkle, Justin Dubay and Zack McGhee led the defense.

Michael’s last-minute goal caps MJCA comeback

MT. JULIET — Chase Michael scored in the final minute to cap a furious second-half comeback as Mt. Juliet Christian overtook Davidson Academy 6-5.

The Saints trailed 4-1 early in the second half before rallying.

Landon Boyd, who scored earlier, assisted to fellow junior Michael, a captain and starting defender, to pull Mt. Juliet Christian even for the season at 2-2.

Freshman David Salazar scored twice for the Saints while classmate Tyler West scored the first goal on a punt by goalie Ben Ormsby, who posted eight saves.

Caleb Anderson also scored as he, Michael, Colin Keith and David Layne each posted an assist.

Mt. Juliet Christian will next play Saturday when The King’s Academy comes in for an 11:30 a.m. East-Middle District 1-A match.
