With the spring fishing and boating season underway, the TWRA reminds boaters about life jacket requirements
Apr 4, 2014

Life jacket reminder: With the spring fishing and boating season underway, the TWRA reminds boaters about life jacket requirements.

One approved personal flotation device per person must be aboard every boat and readily accessible -- not stored in a compartment.

In tailwaters below dams, wearing a life jacket is mandatory. Being caught without a life jacket in the designated area will result in a citation.

Wearing a life jacket is also mandatory for youngsters any time the boat is moving -- including paddling or drifting.

Details about life jacket regulations and other boating rules are available on the TWRA website, tnwildlife.org under "For Boaters."

...

Friends of NRA banquet: Some tickets are available for the April 4 Friends of NRA banquet and auction at the James Ward Agriculture Center.

It starts at 5:30 p.m., and any available tickets will be sold at the door.

For tickets or information call 615-533-8721.

Proceeds help support the shooting sports and related activities. A number of grants annually go to Wilson County schools, civic groups and individuals.

...

Trap shoot: Danny Shaw overcame high winds and chilly temperatures to shoot a 45 and win the weekly trap shoot at the Cedar City Gun Club.

Greg Piercey was second, breaking 39 of 50 targets.
