Friendship Christian scored eight times in the bottom of the first inning Thursday to launch itself to an 11-1 win over visiting Watertown in the first game of a middle-school baseball double header.
The Commanders completed the sweep with a 10-2 conquest in the nightcap.
Both teams were scheduled to play other people. But both games fell through so the county rivals ended up facing each other.
Ben Jamison pitched the first four innings of the opener for Friendship, giving up an unearned run on two hits and two walks before Ryan Godwin worked the fifth, and final, frame.
Luke Smith and Ethan Bult each drove in two runs on a hit with Smith’s going for a double.
Friendship finished with four hits but drew nine walks.
The Commanders collected six hits in the nightcap in climbing to 13-6 for the season. Jagger Pirtle drove in two runs while Matthew Swann tripled.
Jake Chessor didn’t allow a hit through four innings, walking four and strikeout three. Pirtle allowed two hits and a run in the fifth.
Friendship will travel to Hendersonville today for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
