MT. JULIET — Gavin Sellers pitched a complete-game one-hitter Wednesday as Mt. Juliet Christian closed its regular season with its ninth straight win 15-0 over Harding Academy at Billie Friel Field.
Sellers struck out eight to help lift the Saints to 13-2 for the season and 10-2 in conference play. He also joined Cole Alsup in leading the offense with two RBI on two hits apiece.
Noah Michael drove in three runs, Alex Pitman two and Dawson Perry and Caylor Bates one on a hit apiece. Camden Burgess banged out two hits and knocked in a score.
“I’m very proud of how our team got better with each game this season,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Mike Kittrell said. “Now with regular season over and the tournament starting next week we just want to finish out strong. We still have work to do and we are excited about where we’re at.”
The Saints, seeded second in the MTIBL, will play host to Hendersonville Christian at 4:30 p.m. next Tuesday in the first round of the tournament.
