Southside exploded for 12 runs over the final two innings Saturday to whip host Walter J. Baird 16-6 in the regular-season middle-school baseball finale.

Griffin Creswell led the Saints with three hits while Ethan Parker Shelton supplied two hits, drew two walks and was hit by a pitch. Gabe Jennings, Will Wright and Matthew Winfree also had two hits each while Ben Vance and Bryson Jones added a hit apiece.

Shelton picked up the win with two innings of relief.

Eli McDearman and Flatt had two hits each for the Blue Devils.

Both teams will be back in action this week for the WJB Tournament, which was to have started Monday.
