Alex Pitman pitched a no-hitter Wednesday as Mt. Juliet Christian shut out Hendersonville Christian 11-0 Wednesday to advance to the semifinals of the Middle Tennessee Independent Baseball League tournament.

Pitman struck out seven and helped his cause offensively as he, Gavin Sellers, Noah Michael, Preston Sloan and Camden Burgess each banged out two hits. Pitman drove in two runs and Sellers, Sloan and Burgess one apiece. Cole Alsup, Dawson Perry and Caylor Bates had an RBI on a hit each.

“These guys have played hard all year,” coach Mike Kittrell said after his Saints improved to 14-2 for the season. “We got off to a slow start today but we were able to pick it up.

“There is still business to handle as we made it to the semifinals last year. We want to finish strong and stay poised.”
