Cumberland remained sixth in the latest edition of the NAIA men’s tennis coaches’ top 25 poll released Tuesday by the national office.

The Bulldogs lost in the finals of the conference tournament over the weekend, ending a 13-match winning streak.

Cumberland has been ranked in the top 10 all season and was either seventh or eighth in the national poll until April 15 when CU moved to No. 6 after defeating Lindsey Wilson, 5-4, on the road. The Bulldogs lost 5-3 to the Blue Raiders in the Mid-South Conference Championships title match on Sunday but remained No. 6 in this week’s poll, all but assuring the club of a first-round bye in the 24-team field of the national tournament. LWC moved up two spots in the poll to No. 5.

The final regular season top 25 poll will be released on Monday, with national tournament teams and pairings released the following day. The 63rd annual NAIA Men’s Tennis Championships take place May 13-17 at the Mobile [Ala.] Tennis Center.
