CU women's basketball inks Oliver, Neal

Cumberland women’s basketball coach Jeremy Lewis announced the signing of Oakland High School product Kaitlin Oliver and Volunteer State Community College transfer Briana Neal to scholarship papers this week for the 2014-15 academic year.

Oliver was an All-District 7-AAA and All-Region 4-AAA selection as a senior for coach Jennifer Grandstaff at Oakland. She was selected third team All-Area by the Daily News Journal as well, helping the Patriots finish 26-7 overall before losing in the sectional round at Bradley Central.

She was named most improved as a freshman and the Best Defensive player as a sophomore and senior at OHS and earned Landair Classic all-tournament honors as a junior and First City Bank Shootout all-tournament accolades as a senior. Oliver is a four-year honor student, has also lettered in track and field and is the daughter of Kevin and Hope Oliver.

Neal garnered All-TCCAA and All-Region honors as a sophomore at Volunteer State, averaging 11.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The Memphis native was a member of four TSSAA State Tournament teams at Overton High School as well and earned letters in track and field as OHS. She is the daughter of Ramona Fenner.
