GALLATIN — Wilson Central answered Lebanon’s tying score with a go-ahead tally Monday as the Lady Wildcats advanced to the District 9-AAA winner’s bracket final with a 4-2 win at Station Camp.

The Lady Wildcats parlayed four hits, including back-to-back doubles by Kendell Eden and Brooke Pfefferle, into the go-ahead scores in the bottom of the fifth inning against Kasey Squires. Pfefferle picked up the RBIs.

Lebanon had just tied the score in the top of the inning on Hannah Simmons’ RBI single and an error on the play. Squires opened the threat with a double to left-center field and Autumn Baldwin followed with a single and stolen base.

Katie Eakes’ two-run double to right put Central on the board 2-0 in the third.

Morgan Powell pitched five innings for the win before Hannah Bodenhorn retired all six Lady Devils she faced for the save, sealing Central’s trip to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. winner’s final against Hendersonville, a 4-2 winner over Beech in Monday’s late game.

The Lady Devils dropped to 16-16 and will face Mt. Juliet in an elimination game at 7 p.m. tonight. Beech will meet Station Camp at 5.

Gordonsville knocks Gordonsville into 8-A elimination game

HARTSVILLE — Watertown scored first, but Gordonsville scored next and kept on pouring runs across the plate in an 11-1 five-inning win in the District 8-A softball tournament Monday.

Tiffany Tomlinson drove in the Tigerettes’ run in the top of the first inning.  But the Tigerettes could muster just three hits against Cori Jennings, who struck out six. One of the hits was a Shelby Hamlet double.

Gordonsville amassed 15 hits against Tomlinson and Brittney Pryor. Jennings drove in three runs on two doubles and a single while Briona Inman also had three RBI and homered.

Watertown will play for its season at 5 p.m. today against Goodpasture, a 15-5 loser to host Trousdale County, which will face Gordonsville at 7.
