Clarence Dies of Lebanon took this turkey last Thursday in northeast Wilson County. He weighed 8.5 pounds, had a nine-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. Dies said turkeys have been hard to harvest this spring because the extended cold weather which he believes delayed the hens laying their eggs by at least three weeks. He said most of the hens are now on their nests for about the last 10 days of the season, which limits the gobblers who have hens with them. He took half of his four-bird limit in the last week of the season.
