Free football camp at MJHS Thursday-Saturday
A free football camp will be conducted by the Mt. Juliet High coaching staff Tuesday through Saturday. Boys who will be in grades 3-8 in the fall will go from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, followed by K-8 from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Players should wear athletic shorts [preferably black], t-shirts [preferably plain white] and athletic and football shoes for indoor and outdoor participation. This will be a non-contact camp.
Wilson Central tennis players wanted
Wilson Central tennis coach Jay [Doc] Holladay wants students interested in playing next spring to contact him as soon as possible at the school [453-4600, ext. 3093] or by email at email@example.com and leave the word “tennis” in the subject heading. Experience is not necessary but appreciated. The team is hoping to practice and play during the summer and fall. Also, students in grades 6-8 for next school year interested in playing for the newly-formed Team Tennessee Tennis Clu of the USTA should also contact Holladay. A parent meeting will be announced later through email contacts or phone calls received.
Winfree Bryant baseball/softball golf tournament May 23
Winfree Bryant Middle School’s baseball and softball teams will hold a golf tournament to raise funds for the Aviator teams May 23 at Pine Creek. The shotgun start will be at 2:30 p.m. Entry fee is $100 and includes everything. A barbecue lunch will tee the day off at 1. The field is limited to the first 100 paid players. LHS volleyball tryouts, clinic in June
Tryouts for Lebanon High’s 2014 volleyball team will be held from 5-8 p.m. June 2-3. Players should have a physical on file and go to LHS volleyball website to register for tryouts. Also, the Lady Devil volleyball team will conduct a clinic for grades 3-8 from noon-3 p.m. June 9-11. Cost is $45, with a $10 discount for families with multiple campers. LHS softball tryouts June 2-4
Tryouts for the 2015 Lebanon High softball team will be held form 1-3 p.m. June 2-4, with attendance all three days mandatory, at the Lady Devils’ field. Players need to bring a current [after April 15] sports physical, signed consent and medical care forms, signed an initialed TSSAA concussion form and softball equipment [none will be provided]. MJ Middle girls’ basketball camp June 2-4
The Mt. Juliet Middle Lady Bears Basketball Camp for girls ages 6-15 will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. June 2-4 in Tommy Martin Gym. Camp fees are $65 and all campers will receive a camp T-shirt. CU softball camps in June
Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill will conduct a pair of camps for ages 5-12 in June. The first camp will run June 16-18 and the second June 23-25. Both will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost is $75 per camp until June 1 when it will go up to $100. She is also conducting a pair of early bird clinics in early June – one for ages 5-9 June 3 and ages 10-14 June 4 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. Cost is $50 with an entry deadline of May 16. Realtors Bass Classic June 7
The 22nd annual Realtors Bass Classic will be held from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. June 7 at the Bulls Creek Launch on Old Hickory Lake just off Highway 109 near Gallatin. A guaranteed first prize of $1,000 will be awarded the winner with other prizes determined by the number of entries. Several non-profit agencies have benefitted from the event over the years. Wilson Central wrestling camp June 9-11
Wilson Central will hold a free beginners wrestling camp for any Wilson County elementary or middle school-age student with little or no experience from 10 a.m.-noon June 9-11. Instructors include Wildcats head coach John Kramer, assistants Ken Hammonds [who wrestled at UT-Chattanooga] and Hunter Adcock [Middle Tennessee State] and members of WCHS’ two-time state runner-up team. Cumberland baseball camps in June, July
Four different Cumberland baseball camps will be held in June and July. A hitting camp for ages 6-12 will run June 9-12 from 9 a.m.-noon for ages 6-9 and 1-4 p.m. for ages 10-12. Cost is $95 per camper for each session. An all-day fundamental camp for ages 8-14 will be held from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. June 16-19 for $175. Lunch will be provided. A pitching camp for ages 8-14 will be held from 9 a.m.-noon June 23-26 for $95. An advanced fundamental camp for ages 13-18 will be held June 30-July 3 for $95. The camps, conducted by Hall of Fame coach Woody Hunt, will provided a t-shirt and access to CU equipment, Benton Jennings Indoor Facility and Woody Hunt Stadium/Ernest L. Stockton Field. Cumberland’s soccer programs will hold summer camps June 9-13 at Lindsey Donnell Stadium. Ages 4-12 will participate from 9 a.m.-noon before ages 13-18 will go from 5-8 p.m. Cost is $100 per camper for the week, dropping down to $90 for groups of 10 or more as well as siblings.
