More than 170 travel baseball teams from ages 15-under to 7-under are scheduled to descend on Wilson County next weekend for a Baseball Players Association tournament at Lebanon and Mt. Juliet.
The 176 teams will come from Middle Tennessee, the Knoxville area and Kentucky. Games will be played in the ballparks in both Lebanon and Mt. Juliet.
According to Jeff Gannon, who is coordinating the Lebanon end of the tournament, proceeds will be used to help fund operations for Lebanon Youth Baseball, the Lebanon Lions Babe Ruth League, the Mt. Juliet League and other non-profit volunteer organizations. Luke Winchester is the coordinator in Mt. Juliet.
The tournament, which Gannon said is an opportunity for local businesses to attract out-of-town customers to spend dollars in Wilson County, is set to begin next Friday and continue through June 1.
