Americans undefeated in sub-district play

Kameron Bond led the 12-under Lebanon American All-Stars at the plate and on the mound Sunday to a 20-0 victory over Portland in a Dixie Youth sub-district tournament at Baird Park’s David P. Penuel Memorial Field.

Bond collected two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Portland managed just two hits off Bond, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

Lebanon had a strong fifth inning, scoring 11 runs. The Americans scored in the fifth on a solo home run by Bond, an error, a two-run single by Carson Boles, a two-run error, an RBI single by Brady Chappell, an error, an RBI single by Spencer Sorce, an RBI double by Evan Britt, and an RBI single by Braden Reese.

Lebanon batters hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Lebanon came when Luke Bradshaw and Reese each homered in the fourth.

Lebanon hammered Portland’s pitching as six hitters combined for 10 hits, nine RBIs and 15 runs scored.

The lead stayed with Lebanon after the first, when it scored six runs on two doubles, a groundout by Bradshaw and an RBI single by Mark McDearman.

The Americans next faced Greenbrier on Monday night for the sub-district championship. Results of the game will be featured in Wednesday’s edition of The Democrat and at lebanondemocrat.com.

Lebanon Americans 25, Springfield 1

The Lebanon American All-Stars jumped out to an early lead on Springfield and captured a 25-1 victory Saturday night.

Fifteen runs in the first three innings allowed Lebanon to put the game away early.

An RBI double by Reese, two passed balls, a two-run error, a two-run double by McDearman and a passed ball in the first inning preceded a groundout by Bradshaw and an RBI single by Boles during the second inning, which supplied the early offense for Lebanon.

Chappell racked up four RBIs on one hit for Lebanon. He homered in the fourth inning.

Springfield managed just one hit off of Reese, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

Lebanon’s nine hitters combined for 15 hits, 15 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Lebanon Americans 5, Greenbrier 0

Bradshaw hit two homers to lead the Lebanon American All-Stars to a 5-0 win over Greenbrier on Saturday morning.

Lebanon hit four home runs in the win, including when Reese homered in the first inning, Chappell homered in the second and Bradshaw homered in the first and fourth.

Greenbrier had no answer for McDearman, who kept runners off the bases in his appearance. Greenbrier managed one hit off McDearman, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Reese and Bradshaw teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.

Lebanon took the lead for good in the first, scoring two runs on the two solo blasts.
