Americans win sub-district tourney

Lebanon American All Stars got the lead early and didn’t look back Monday night to defeat Greenbrier 13-3 and win a 12-under Dixie Youth sub-district tournament at Baird Park’s David P. Penuel Memorial Field.

The Lebanon American All Stars got the lead early and didn’t look back Monday night to defeat Greenbrier 13-3 and win a 12-under Dixie Youth sub-district tournament at Baird Park’s David P. Penuel Memorial Field.

The game was decided quickly as Lebanon put up 12 runs in the first three innings.

The Americans (5-0) started the game with an RBI double by Braden Reese, a two-run homerun by Luke Bradshaw, an RBI single from Kameron Bond, an RBI double by Brady Chappell and an RBI single by Evan Britt to take a 7-0 lead at the end of the first inning.

Bond added an RBI single in the second to extend Lebanon’s lead to 12-0.

Bradshaw collected two extra-base hits in the game.

Carson Boles, Bradshaw, Bond and Jeremiah Hastings combined for six hits and seven RBIs.

Reese pitched three innings, recording seven strikeouts and giving up one walk on no hits. Mark McDearman pitched the final inning and recorded three strikeouts.

The Americans will next face Pleasant View, which finished second to the Lebanon Nationals in sub-district, in the first round of district play Friday at 8 p.m. in Coopertown.
