Lebanon 12-under Dixie majors all-stars gear up for district

Both the Lebanon Nationals and Lebanon Americans 12-under Dixie Youth majors all-stars teams finished atop their respective sub-district tournaments with district play now in sight.

Both the Lebanon Nationals and Lebanon Americans 12-under Dixie Youth majors all-stars teams finished atop their respective sub-district tournaments with district play now in sight. 

The district tournament for both teams kicks off Friday in Coopertown. The Nationals will face Greenbrier at 6 p.m. The Americans will take on Pleasant View at 8 p.m. Both opponents finished second in their respective sub-district tournaments to the opposite Lebanon team they will play Friday night.

The top two teams in the district tournament will move on to the Dixie Youth State Tournament that starts July 17 in Sweetwater.  

The state winner will move on to the Dixie Youth World Series that begins Aug. 9 in Lexington, S.C. 

Lebanon Youth Baseball Association officials said only one state champion came out of Lebanon. The Lebanon team in 2008 coached by Kevin Gaines, who is coaching the Nationals this year, finished fourth in the World Series and lost to eventual World Series champion Mississippi that year. 

The Nationals include Jon Ross Bryan, Chase Birdwell, Alex Cook, Kolby Gaines, Ryan Jackson, Jayden Jobe, Tyson Kelly, Bryce Miller, Garrett Pope, Braxton Swann, Ryan Toporowski and J.D. Usrey.

Scott Sorce manages the Americans. The team includes, Seth Beck, Carson Boles, Kameron Bond, Luke Bradshaw, Evan Britt, Brady Chappell, Jeremiah Hastings, Cory Jones, Mark McDearman, Gaven Reasonover, Braden Reece and Spencer Sorce.
