Lebanon player has big season with Monarchs

Lebanon’s Joseph Midgett signed scholarship papers recently to play for 2014 NAIA national champion Cumberland University.

Midgett, a Homeschool World Series Association All-American, was a centerfielder for the Nashville Monarchs. He batted .400 during the post season and maintained a .310 batting average from the lead-off spot during the regular season. 

Midgett also batted .464 with runners in scoring position and led the Monarchs in stolen bases. He finished with a .405 slugging average and had a .420 on-base percentage. 

As a centerfielder, Midgett didn’t make a throwing or fielding error throughout the season. 

The son of Dan and Jeneva Midgett, he is playing summer baseball with the Sandlot Tennessee Travelers, based in Nashville.
