Young golfers compete in several tourneys

Two local junior golfers finished second and others placed in the top 20 Friday in the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour tournament at Ironwood Golf Course in Cookeville.

Two local junior golfers finished second and others placed in the top 20 Friday in the Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour tournament at Ironwood Golf Course in Cookeville. 

Phillip Austin Martin, of Old Hickory, finished second in the boys 16-18 tour age group after shooting a 10-over 40-42—82. 

Haylee Gold, of Mt. Juliet, finished second in the girls 12-18 tour age group after shooting a 37-over 55-54—109. 

Tyler Jo Anderson, of Lebanon, finished tied for 13 in the boys 13-15 tour age group after shooting  a 38-over 58-52—110. Shade Anderson, of Lebanon, finished tied for 16 after shooting a 55-over 61-66—127. 

Davis wins girls championship

Caitlin Davis, of Mt. Juliet, won the girls 12-18 tour age group after shooting a 20-over 46-46—92 Thursday at the TGA Two Rivers Junior Golf Championship at Two Rivers Golf Course in Nashville. 

Anna Leigh Cleveland, of Lebanon, finished fourth with a 25-over 49-48—97. Gold finished sixth with a 28-over 51-49—100. Kristen Fredricks, of Lebanon came in tied for seventh with a 29-over 52-49—101. Hannah Roberts, of Lebanon, finished ninth with a 31-over 55-48—103. 

Samuel Fogg, of Mt. Juliet, finished tied for third in the boys 13-15 masters age group after shooting a 9-over 39-41—80. 

Alec Harper, of Mt. Juliet, shot a 12-over 48 to finish fifth in the boys 10-13 tour age group. 

Will Stallworth, of Mt. Juliet, shot a 45-over 59-58—117 to finish 31st in the boys 10-13 tour age group. 

J.C. McDearman, of Lebanon, shot a 10-over 40-41—81 to finish second in the boys 16-18 tour age group. Martin finished fifth with a 13 over 43-41—84. Charlie Booher II, of Lebanon, shot a 17-over 41-47—88 to finish tied for ninth. 

Spence places in micro tourney

Sydney Spence, of Mt. Juliet, shot a 34-over 61 to finish 11th in the girls 8-11 micro age group Thursday at Little Course at Conner Lane in Franklin. 

Golfers fare well in championship

Several local junior golfers placed June 24-25 in the Tennessee Masters Championship at General’s Retreat at Hermitage Golf Course. 

Sam Gatlin, of Mt. Juliet, shot a 12-over 77-79—156 to finish tied for 12th in the boys 16-18 masters age group. 

Matthew Salva, of Mt. Juliet, finished 26th after shooting a 21-over 80-85—165. Payton Winn, of Lebanon, finished 39th after shooting a 34-over 93-85—178. 

Luke Raines, of Mt. Juliet, finished eighth after shooting a 16-over 84-76—160 in the boys 13-15 masters age group. Samuel Fogg, of Mt. Juliet, finished tied for 12th after shooting a 22-over 84-82—166. 

Lisa Malherbe, of Mt. Juliet, finished sixth in the girls 16-18 masters age group after shooing a 20-over 85-79—164.
