Cumberland men’s basketball coach Lonnie Thompson announced the team’s 2014-15 schedule this week, which includes 13 home games and seven of the first 11 contests at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
The Bulldogs will begin the season Nov. 5 at home versus Indiana -Southeast before heading to Fisk (Nov. 6) and Oakwood (Nov. 8) later in the week. CU will play three straight games at home over a seven-day stretch starting Nov. 11 against Oakwood, including the Mid-South Conference opener on Nov. 15 versus new member Life as well as a Nov. 17 contest against long-time TranSouth Conference opponent Freed-Hardeman.
Cumberland will hit the road for a pair of league outings at Georgetown College (Nov. 20) and Shawnee State (Nov. 22) before playing host to Martin Methodist (Nov. 24) just before Thanksgiving. CU will play two more conference games at home the first week of December, taking on St. Catharine (Dec. 4) and Campbellsville (Dec. 6).
The Bulldogs will open a nine-game road swing on Dec. 13 at Bethel and travel to Martin Methodist on Dec. 17 before taking part in the Dalton State College Classic on Dec. 19-20, facing host Dalton State and Concordia-Selma prior to the Christmas break.
CU will travel to Indiana-Southeast (Jan. 3) and Freed-Hardeman (Jan. 12) before returning to conference action with road games at the University of the Cumberlands (Jan. 15), Pikeville (Jan. 17) and Lindsey Wilson (Jan. 22) to end the road trip.
Cumberland will play six of its final nine regular season contests at home beginning Jan. 24 versus Fisk. The remaining eight contests are all against Mid-South Conference opponents, with home games against Pikeville, the Cumberlands, Shawnee State, Georgetown and Lindsey Wilson and road tilts at St. Catharine, Campbellsville and Life.
The Mid-South Conference Championships are set for March 6-8 in Frankfort, Ky., and the 78th Annual NAIA Championships will take place March 18-24 in Kansas City, Mo.
