LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Tennessee-state champion Lebanon Americans had to walk off with a 3-2 loss to the Paris [Texas] Nationals in the Dixie Youth O-Zone World Series on Monday.
Texas scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to eliminate the Americans, who went 15-5-1 since being organized in June. The Nationals tied the score in the sixth.
Braden Reece, who had two of Lebanon’s three hits, drove in both American runs in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tennesseans up 2-1.
Texas took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
On the mound, Reece struck out four and Evan Britt three as they combined to allow eight hits.
Americans 4, Georgia 2
LEXINGTON, S.C. – The Lebanon Americansbounced back Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 win over Baldwin County, Ga.
The Americans fell into the loser’s bracket in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament Saturday after falling to Louisiana 6-4.
Trailing 3-2 heading into the fifth inning, the Americans bounced back in the top of the inning. Reece knocked a solo home run to center field to tie the game at 3-3. Lebanon then took the lead when Brady Chappell singled to third to score Luke Bradshaw. The lead was extended when Britt hit a sacrifice and reached on an error to score Jeremiah Hastings.
Georgia jumped out to a 1-0 lead going into the second before Hastings tied the game on a solo home run to center.
Georgia retook the lead, 2-1, on a passed ball in the second.
Hastings led at the plate for the Americans, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Reece went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Chappell went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Reece pitched 2 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts. He gave up one hit, no earned runs and no walks. Gaven Reasonover pitched 2 2/3 innings, picking up four strikeouts while allowing three hits, two runs, one earned run and three walks. Chappell pitched one inning, garnering one strikeout while allowing one hit, no runs, no earned runs and three walks.
Louisiana 6, Americans 4
LEXINGTON, S.C. – The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 after the first inning. The Americans scored on a groundout by Reece to score Reasonover.
Pineville, La., took its first lead of the game in the third in putting up four runs.
Lebanon came back in the top of the fourth on a three-run homer by Reece that scored Seth Beck and Carson Birdwell to cut Louisiana’s lead to 5-4.
But Louisiana added a run in the fourth, and the final two innings went without a score.
Reece led at the plate for Lebanon, going 1-for-2 with four RBIs. Reasonover and Evan Britt singled.
Reece pitched three innings and had six strikeouts. He gave up three hits, five runs, one earned runs and three walks. Britt pitched two innings and picked up two strikeouts. He gave up three hits, one run, no earned runs and walked two batters.
