Though live kicking is seldom part of preseason high school football, jamboree action will kick off Friday night with the second half set for Saturday.

Friendship Christian will travel to Westmoreland today. The middle school will play a half starting at 6:30 p.m., with the high school to follow, probably around 7, Commander coach John McNeal said.

Mt. Juliet will go to Smyrna for the Rutherford County Jamboree today. The Golden Bears will battle Oakland at 7 p.m., coach Trey Perry said.

Wilson Central will return to Trousdale County on Saturday for the Tobacco Bowl Jamboree at John Kerr Field, popularly known as “The Creekbank”. The Wildcats will face Pope John Paul II with the junior varsity and freshmen playing at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 6:30, coach Brad Dedman said.

Trousdale County’s District 8-A rival, Watertown, will break in its new Robinson Stadium by welcoming DeKalb County in for a half at 8 p.m. Saturday, capping an evening of football which will begin with the middle school Purple Tigers taking on Carroll-Oakland at 6 p.m., followed by the WHS junior-varsity against DeKalb at 7, coach Gavin Webster said.

Lebanon and Mt. Juliet Christian are sitting out jamboree weekend. But the Blue Devils and Saints will join the Wildcats, Purple Tigers, Commanders and Golden Bears in season-opening Week 0 action next Friday.
