WOODBURY — Andrew Kittrell capped a 130-yard night by punching a walk-off 2-yard touchdown run in the second overtime to lift Mt. Juliet Christian past host Cannon County 14-8 Thursday night.
It was the second score of the night for Kittrell, who carried the ball 13 times, one of which was a first-half touchdown as the teams went into halftime tied 8-8.
“Our guys came up huge in this one,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Mike Kittrell said after his Saints moved to 2-0. “They never quit and kept on fighting to the end. So proud for this team.”
Andrew Kittrell also led the defense with six tackles while Raven McLean intercepted a pass with four seconds left in regulation.
Mt. Juliet Christian will play host to Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at Suey Field in the Saints’ home opener.
