WARTRACE -- Luke Turner had an impressive season debut for the Watertown Purple Tigers, but it wasn't enough to help his team overcome a slow start in their season opener.
Host Cascade scored four times in a 13-minute span, taking a commanding lead and holding on for a 34-7 triumph.
Turner finished with 32 carries for 155 yards and the Purple Tigers' only touchdown.
Cascade took the lead with big plays.
The Champions got a 72-yard touchdown pass from Austin Hass to Ivan Spencer, taking a 6-0 lead. Eighty-five seconds later, Cascade blocked a punt and Dylan Vaught recovered it in the end zone to give his team a 13-0 lead.
Cascade took command in the second quarter, scoring on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Hass to Hunter Cook. Spencer later scored on a 61-yard run, making it 27-0.
Turner's score came with 7:30 left in the third quarter on a 1-yard run. He was part of an offense which had 235 rushing yards, but was hampered by four sacks, an interception and the blocked punt which led to a the second Cascade touchdown.
Cascade was led by Spencer and Hass. Spencer had 180 yards rushing and receiving, and Hass had 178 passing yards.
Watertown plays host to Eagleville next week.
