Andy Reed • The Lebanon Democrat Winfree Bryant’s Alexander Hagerman [84] reaches for the ball as Walter J. Baird wingback Xavier Mills rips off a long second-quarter run.

Ryan Brown scored three touchdowns Thursday night to lead visiting Walter J. Baird past Winfree Bryant 32-0.

Brown scored on a pair of 1-yard quarterback sneaks in the second quarter after his long runs deposited the ball just shy of the goal line for a 16-0 halftime lead. His 50-yard interception return capped the scoring in the third period as Baird pulled even at 2-2 for the season.

Wingback Xavier Mills scored on a 4-yard run earlier in the third quarter.

Wingback Justin Robinson scored both second-quarter two-point conversions and Xavier Mills did the honors in the third.

The win was Baird’s third straight after Winfree Bryant won the city meeting in that school’s first year in 2011.

The teams will hook up again in a junior-varsity matchup at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at WJB.

Baird will double up in two weeks. The Blue Devils will travel to Westmoreland on Sept. 9 and to Jo Byrns two nights later. Both kickoffs will be at 6:30 p.m.
