Lady Devils defeat Mt. Juliet in four

Lebanon dominated the first and third games and split the second and fourth in taking a 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 triumph over visiting Mt. Juliet in District 9-AAA volleyball Tuesday.

Zia Hamilton had 23 assists and seven digs for the Lady Devils while Nicole Painter finished with 15 kills and a block, Veronica White 14 digs and three aces, Megan Brown nine digs and two aces and Briana Clemmons nine kills.

SaraGrace Wilson notched nine kills and two aces for Mt. Juliet while Amber Erhart had 19 assists, Tavie Bell 10 digs and Cassidy Harris four blocks as the Lady Bears slipped to 7-4 for the season and 2-1 in district play.

No individual statistics had been reported for Lebanon as of press time.

Lebanon will travel to Friendship Christian’s Bay Family Sportsplex today for a 5:30 p.m. match and play host to Portland at 6 p.m. Thursday. Mt. Juliet will play host to Wilson Central at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Central spikes Gallatin

GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central strolled past visiting Gallatin 25-9, 25-15, 25-16 in District 9-AAA volleyball Tuesday.

Delaney McCorkle led the Lady Wildcats with eight kills, five digs, four assists, two aces and a block while Jordan Fitzgerald finished with 21 assists, three kills, two digs and a block; Megan Belcher nine digs, four aces, two assists and a block; Taylor Tucker four kills, three digs, an assist and an ace; Averi Usher nine digs, eight kills and two aces; Kendal Tomlin five digs and two aces and Shelby Coombes five kills as Central moved to 6-7 for the season and 2-1 in district play.

Central’s junior varsity won 25-23, 25-14.

LaVergne will visit Central today for a 6:30 p.m. varsity match. The JV will serve off at 5:30. The Lady Wildcats will travel to Mt. Juliet on Thursday.

MJCA wins in five at Davidson

NASHVILLE — Mt. Juliet Christian went the distance at Davidson Academy and came out with a 15-25, 25-12, 25-14, 21-25, 15-10 Tuesday.

Meredith Orr set up 12 assists, Caroline Scott spiked eight kills and Morgan Adcock served up four aces for the Lady Saints, who improved to 4-1.

Mt. Juliet Christian will play host to South Haven at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
