State Rep. Susan Lynn (R–Mt. Juliet) was appointed this week to the Bilateral Session Steering Committee by Speaker of the House Beth Harwell.
The committee, which is made up of seven members of the House of Representatives, is charged with planning the details of a joint session of the Tennessee state legislature with the state’s nine U.S. representatives and two U.S. senators early next year in Nashville.
The purpose of the public meeting will be to discuss the relevant issues facing Tennesseans with the hopeful result of giving both levels of government a clear understanding of each other's needs and future plans. The committee will report back to the Republican Caucus in about one month with progress made in preparing for the 2014 joint session.
“It is always a step in the right direction to have various levels of government communicating and working together for the common good of the people,” said Lynn. “I look forward to seeing significant progress made over the coming weeks.”
Lynn is chairman of the House Consumer and Human Resources Subcommittee. She represents District 57, which encompasses a portion of Wilson County. She can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 800-449-8366, ext. 17462.
