Publix stores of Wilson County recently presented their finalized campaign of just more than $140,000 for United Way of Wilson County.

With just more than 300 employees, the local Publix stores continue their tradition of giving to the communities they serve.

“Publix always has the most amazing campaigns. Their level of participation is a goal for the whole community,” said UWWC president John McMillin. “This campaign is, again, the largest in Wilson County.”

United Way of Wilson County helps support more than 30 local nonprofit programs that provide services and guidance, as well as supporting initiatives in early learning.

“We are thrilled,” said UWWC board chairman J.B. Owens. “The Publix corporation and its employees give generously, as well as driving volunteer involvement in any capacity.

“We’re astounded at store employees’ creativity, their enthusiasm and their goals. I think their founder Mr. George W. Jenkins, famous for his giving, would be very pleased with their commitment to community.”
