Middle Tennessee Electric crews were busy Wednesday morning following severe weather, including a confirmed EF2 tornado in Mt. Juliet, in the early morning hours.
MTEMC Communications Coordinator Todd Palmer said around 18,000 power outages were reported to MTEMC after the worst of the storm struck at about 4 a.m. At 10 a.m., the number of outages was cut significantly.
"Now, we're down to about 1,000 outages. The hardest hit area was Mt. Juliet and in the north of the county," he said. "Those are the areas we are still working through."
Palmer said lines and poles remained down, but crews are working to get power restored to all customers.
"We have no ETA on when they will all be fixed, because every situation is different," Palmer said.
As always, Palmer warns of the danger of downed power lines and encourages everyone to stay away from them and to report them immediately to the electric cooperative at 877-777-9020.
