Tuesday's Lebanon City Council meeting had fireworks in more ways than one, with the council legalizing fireworks sales and use within the city limits.

Councilor Kathy Warmath introduced a resolution to end the city's ban on the sale and use of fireworks last year. She said it was ridiculous for the city to lose revenue from fireworks sales when residents were buying them just outside the city limits and using them in the city anyway.

The vote was postponed after Ward 2 Councilor Fred Burton asked that a public meeting be held on the subject to afford people opposed to fireworks a chance to speak. The council agreed, and that meeting was before the regular council meeting Tuesday.
