Friendship Christian is getting tough.

From beginner trail racers and mud run participants to hardcore warriors, tough guys and marathon runners – there will be something for everyone at Friendship Christian’s upcoming Commander Run Series on April 13.

The series will challenge athletes of any age or ability by offering three unique runs: The Extreme 5K, The Mini-Extreme and The Cross-Country 5K.

“We welcome everyone to join us for the Second Annual Commander Run,” said Jon Shoulders, Friendship Christian School president. “The extreme race series is all about having fun and we have some new, extreme obstacles planned to compliment the course.”

The Commander Extreme 5K competitors will run, climb, jump, crawl, and muscle through obstacles. This race, which is for participants age 14 and older, will test competitors all-around toughness, strength, stamina, fitness, and mental determination.

For those not up to that challenge, there is The Commander Mini Extreme.

The Mini Extreme offers a 1.6-mile course with obstacles designed as alternatives to the Extreme 5K. It is suitable for up-and-coming Extreme participants and is perfect for team building.Participants join in the fun as they complete a shorter, less difficult obstacle course as the ‘Extremers.’

This obstacle course tests resilience, strength, stamina and quick thinking, while building resolve and self-esteem.

The Cross Country 5K is an adventure race that requires participants to navigate a 5K trail-running course – minus the obstacles.

It differs from other local 5Ks by going off-road.

The Commander Run Event Site is on the 50-acre campus of Friendship Christian School at 5400 Coles Ferry Pike in Lebanon. The family-friendly race features chip timing. Proceeds from the event will benefit Friendship Christian School and are tax deductible.

Participant can register online at active.com.

The Commander Carb-Out will be held April 12, in conjunction with race weekend, to prepare participants with a pasta extravaganza for peak performance.
