The deadline is fast approaching for five deserving Wilson County girls to win a full prom makeover.
Glitz and Glamour Salon in Lebanon seeks nominations for deserving Wilson County high school girls to give a free prom makeover.
This includes hair, manicure and makeup done by the Glam Gals Team, Jessica Dodds, Shannon Steele and Ginny McDonald at Glitz and Glamour Hair Salon.
“I never got to go to prom, so I feel like it’s really important that these girls can look back on prom, have that experience and feel beautiful,” said Dodds, manager of Glitz and Glamour Hair Salon. “I want them to really feel special on prom day.”
“We want a girl of good character, someone active in the community, or somebody that’s really in need of the service,” said Dodds.
Anyone can nominate a girl from any Wilson County high school, including Friendship Christian, by writing a small paragraph stating why the nominee should win.
Dodds said the salon has received about 30 nominations – many of them from Wilson Central and Lebanon High School.
“We’re definitely still looking for more [nominations],” said Dodds. “We don’t have any from Mt. Juliet yet.”
Last year’s recipient from Watertown High School left a lasting impression on Dodds.
“She’d had a brain tumor removed, and she had a scar on her head where hair did not grow there, so she was very self-conscious about her hair,” said Dodds. “When we told her that she had won, she was just ecstatic.”
All entries should be submitted to the salon by April 6.
One winner will be selected from each high school, and of the five winners, one will win a grand prize package.
“We’ll just pick one of those girls that we think really, truly deserves the grand prize,” said Dodds.
The grand prize package will include a prom dress, shoes, jewelry, limo service, spray tan, dinner, prom ticket, corsage and a dental whitening kit.
