Elk hunt set: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced the application period of the 2013 elk hunt. Applications can be submitted from July 12 through July 24. The hunt will take place in October.
The application instruction sheet lists locations for all quote hunts, including the elk hunt and can be obtained at any TWRA license agent, TWRA office or online at the TWRA website, www.tnwildlife.org
There is no fee for Annual Sportsman License holder, Lifetime Sportsman license holders, or seniors possessing a Type167 permit in addition to their permanent senior citizen license. For all other applicants there is a non-refundable $10 fee. There also is a $1 fee for applications made at a license agent.
Hunters must remain at the location while the application is processed to make sure the information is correct on the receipt.
For applications made on the internet there is a $2 internet usage fee.

After all WMA drawings are conducted, any leftover permits will be sold on-line, starting Aug. 28.
Young Sportsman Elk: For the second year, a Young Sportsman Elk Hunt will be held following the regular elk hunt on Oct. 21-25. The Youth hunt will be Oct. 26-27 and is open to youngsters 13-16.
Youth who submit a regular elk quota hunt application are not eligible for the youth elk hunt.
Trap shoot: Brian Lettrich shot a perfect 50 straight to win last week’s trap shoot at the Cedar City Gun Club.
Kerry Davis took Class B with a 43, Tim Whitlock was top Sub-Junior with 45, Lucas Green won Junior with 41 and Billy Robb was top Veteran with 41.
