A Brush Creek woman died Sunday morning in a wreck on Interstate 40 in Lebanon.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jeff Buchanan said Charity L. Williams, 25, was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima westbound on I-40 when the car hydroplaned across the median into eastbound traffic and hit a 2010-model garbage truck with Louisiana license plates nearly head on.

Buchanan said troopers found Williams dead when they arrived after she was ejected from her car. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to Buchanan’s report.

The garbage truck driver, Shanon Brown, 38, of Atlanta, was injured in the wreck, but his condition was unavailable, according to Buchanan’s report. Brown was wearing a seat belt.

The wreck happened at about 7:55 a.m. at mile marker 245 in Lebanon. Buchanan said in his report drug and alcohol tests were ordered on Williams’ body, but it appeared neither were a factor. No charges were filed.
