Conrad Construction Co. officials said they would not close the street between Market Street and the Lebanon square during the weekend.
The street will remain open Thursday through Sunday nights to allow work done there to settle and concrete to cure.
Officials said the street would be closed nightly again Monday. Due to the weather and it's affect on the flowable fill required in the utility ditch, the period for the nightly road closure would be extended through March 14.
Commuters should expect some lane closures during the day, as well, until the work is complete. The nightly road closure will not allow for any through traffic, but the daily lane closure will allow for through traffic.
In addition, Tennessee Department of Transportation officials said construction on the Cumberland River Bridge on State Route 109 at the Sumner County line would cause alternating lane closures to allow workers to pave asphalt and utility crossings. One lane will remain open daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
TDOT officials also said a widening project continues on Interstate 40 from Central Pike to east of State Route 109 with work causing alternating lane closures nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. One lane will remain open in each direction.
Lane closures are possible daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. on State Route 840 in Wilson County to allow workers to patch potholes and repair guardrail.
