A strong storm system is expected to arrive Thursday afternoon, bringing scattered and possibly severe thunderstorms, Wilson Emergency Management Agency forecasters said.
WEMA officials said scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the area Thursday morning and then become widespread during the afternoon and evening.
Some of the storms Thursday could become severe, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, WEMA officials said. The main threats are expected to be damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall, although a few isolated tornadoes are possible.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Wednesday night that includes all of Middle Tennessee until Thursday at 10 p.m. Strong southern winds of 20 mph-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected, which may knock down tree branches and overturn loose outdoor objects.
