The National Weather Service Monday afternoon issued a special weather statement warning of a wintry mix for Middle Tennessee, including Wilson County.
By 3 p.m. Monday, the system was spreading light rain mixed with sleet and snow throughout the area.
Forecasters said the mix would likely change to all rain in the Wilson County area by the evening hours.
According to Steve Spencer of the Wilson Emergency Management Agency, areas near the Kentucky border could see rain and sleet into the evening, possibly creating slick road surface.
“They’re not calling for anything like that down this far [south],” said Spencer. “At the moment, it’s real pretty falling out of the sky and it may accumulate on top of the grass and raised surfaces, but it’s not supposed to stick to the roads at this point.”
NWS forecasters said more of the same wintry mix is expected again Tuesday night.
