The Eastern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors plans to have an old-fashioned ice cream social to allow people to get to know the candidates on the Aug. 7 ballot.

The event will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Charlie Daniels Park in Mt. Juliet. The candidates are asked to set up a booth and either make or make available their best ice cream to hand out to voters.

The voters will have the opportunity to meet and greet the candidates, ask them questions and generally get to know them better.

Ballots will also be available for voters to pick their favorite ice cream, and realtors will reward the top three candidates.
