Voices Of The Entire Community will hold a candidate meet and greet Saturday from 2-5 p.m. at the Market Street Community Center.

The event will be on the center’s front lawn at 321 E. Market Street in Lebanon.

Event organizers said candidates will have booth space available and would be granted the opportunity to publicly introduce themselves to the audience. The event will also have live musical entertainment provided by All The Way Live, which features talent from Wilson County and the surrounding area.

VOTEC was originally chartered by the state of Tennessee as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization in April 2005, and is dedicated to overcoming voter apathy.  It sponsored voter registration drives, candidate forums and organized efforts to offer rides to the polls on Election Day.  The organization became inactive in 2008 but renewed its charter and recently elected Ronald McCarver as its new president.

The mission of the organization continues to be “to inspire, inform and involve the entire community regarding the voting process,” and members hope this event will serve that purpose.

The event is free to the public, and everyone is encouraged to come and learn about the candidates and to voice concerns to them, in addition to being entertained.

VOTEC also seeks volunteers to join the organization and support its efforts and can be reached at votec.wilsoncounty@yahoo.com.
