Candidates for local offices were invited to a rally Saturday at Carroll-Oakland Elementary School.

Each of the candidates present were given three minutes each to let voters know about their voting records on various issues, as well as experience that could help them in the office they are seeking.

Candidates vying for circuit court clerk, Wilson County trustee, criminal court judge and state representative were in attendance. Also present were current Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto and Sheriff Robert Bryan, among others.

The Carroll-Oakland Parent Teacher Organization sponsored the event to allow voters a chance to hear the candidates in advance of early voting, which begins Friday.

In addition, the PTO held a dessert auction, featuring homemade baked goods. Attendees bid on each item, and proceeds benefited the PTO’s operation.
