A local businessman took it upon himself to help clean up some trash Monday.

William Bryant said Monday afternoon he drove past the Election Commission office to his office on College Street and noticed a large amount of trash across the street from the Election Commission.

“It was really, really bad,” Bryant said. “A lot of people talked about it, so I went up there to say something.”

Bryant said when he visited the area, he found a large amount of trash apparently left by supporters of candidates who were stationed to encourage voters to cast a ballot for their candidate.

“I thought it was pretty terrible how the candidates’ people who represent them left trash all over the place. They just took all of their trash and just left it on the ground.”

Bryant said after having several people bring it up in conversation, he took it upon himself to clean the area.

“I picked up three trash bags and then two industrial trash bags,” he said. “It just looks tacky. They ought to be held responsible.”
