Visitors can enjoy everything from food to spelling competitions at the fair Thursday.

The Tennessee Central Region 4-H Outdoor Meat Cookery Competition will be held Thursday evening, as local 4-H clubs show off their best meat recipes and cooking techniques.

Races of several descriptions will also take place Thursday. On tap for the night is an off-road challenge, as well as battery-powered riding toy races and pedal-push tractor races for the youngsters.

There will be school spirit in the air as local school children can participate in an “old-time spelling bee” and local cheer squads will compete in the School Spirit Jam.

Fans of all things rodeo will not be left out. Events scheduled in the arena Thursday include both bull riding and mutton busting competitions, as well as a calf scramble. Livestock will take center stage in the livestock barn with an open dairy cattle show and a Dexter cattle show.

For those looking for musical entertainment, acts are scheduled throughout the evening on each of the fair’s four stages. Hypnotist Michael Blaine continues his run of hilarity at the expense of fellow guests each night and a BMX stunt show will take place just outside Fiddlers Grove.
