The Lebanon VFW Post 5015 and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1004 will play host to the Harlem Ambassadors on Monday for a special comedy basketball event.

The family friendly event will feature laughter, comedy, slam dunks, high-flying hoops... all for a good cause.

All funds raised from the event will go to the Wilson County Veterans Park and to support disabled and needy veteran programs.

Lebanon’s own local challengers, the Wilson County Dribblers, will take on the Ambassadors in a comedy basketball show the whole family will enjoy. The show starts at 7 p.m. at Winfree Bryant Middle School. Doors open at 6:20 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Wilson County Veterans Park and Museum and will be used to support the Park and local disabled and needy veteran programs.

The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, hilarious comedy routines, music, dancing and games for the kids.

“At our shows, we want the kids to know that they’re part of our team too,” Coach Lade Majic said. “We invite as many kids as we can to come sit on the bench, have a front row seat during the show, and get involved in all of the fun stuff we do.”

“We have scoured the region for skilled – and sometimes unskilled – players to take on the powerful Ambassadors,” said Bob Van Riper. “Come to the game and cheer on our enthusiastic local talent including members of the Immanuel Baptist Church team and pastors.”

Everyone will meet the Ambassadors after the game during a complimentary autograph session.

Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at bpt.me/541142. Adult tickets are $10, students and children 5 and older and seniors are $8. Tickets will also be available at the door. See vfw5015.org for more information.

The Harlem Ambassadors have performed more than 2,400 professional comedy basketball games as fundraising and community entertainment events for non-profit organizations, the U.S. military and community service groups since 1998.

“We’re proud to give communities quality family entertainment that parents, grandparents and kids can enjoy together and create memories that last a lifetime,” Harlem Ambassadors president Dale Moss said. “Every Harlem Ambassadors game is one-of-a-kind because the Ambassadors play against local competitors. It’s a night filled with laughter, comedy and slam dunks, all to benefit the local community.”
