The Wilson County Friends of NRA plans to have a picnic-style barbecue dinner with games, prizes and live and silent auctions that will include hunting and sports equipment, guns, jewelry, decorative items and more.
The event will be April 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the James Ward Agricultural Center at 945 Baddour Pkwy. in Lebanon.
Friends of NRA is a grassroots organization that supports thousands of community services related to firearm education, hunter safety, wildlife conservation, range improvements, youth marksmanship and law enforcement, among others. Working with NRA field representatives, the members and volunteers organize events in their communities, complete with auctions, special drawings and fellowship. Much of the merchandise at the banquets is donated or provided at reduced cost by hundreds of participating vendors.
Friends of NRA is a fundraising program run by people from all walks of life. At a Friends of NRA event, mainstream citizens work together to support preserving rights and heritage.
Half of the money raised by the Friends of NRA event will be spent in Tennessee. The other half supports qualifying national-level programs like Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program, Women on Target and other educational and safety services. State fund committees made up of volunteers review grant applications from local organizations and make recommendations to the NRA Foundation on how the money might best be used in their areas.
