The annual Friends of Scouting luncheon to benefit the Walton Trail District will be held Monday at a new location.
This year's event, with guest speaker Sen. Lamar Alexander, will be held at 11 a.m. at The Mill at Lebanon.
"The main reason that we had to move it is we ran out of space," said Chris Crowell. "It's just grown so much. It just got too big for Cumberland. They have been a tremendous host."
Sen. Alexander has a unique perspective to speak from at the luncheon on Monday. Crowell said that they like to invite speakers that will be of interest to the community, and Alexander fits the bill in more than one way.
"He's actually an Eagle Scout," Crowell said. "Any time we can get an Eagle Scout that has accomplished to the level that he has is wonderful.
"He can speak at several different levels and be of interest to our community."
The event is invitation only, but Crowell said anyone who did not receive an invite who would like one can contact him or local attorney Brody Kane to have an invitation emailed to them.
All of the proceeds from the luncheon are used within the district for various scouting functions.
"There are a whole range of things that you get to do in scouting that makes a unique opportunity for kids," Crowell said.
