Nearly 5,000 homes in Lebanon and areas in Wilson County north of the city to the Sumner and Trousdale county lines were without power early Tuesday morning.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. officials estimated about 4,900 customers were affected by the outage that lasted about an hour and a half.

MTEMC spokesperson Josh Clendenen said power was restored at about 1:05 a.m., and workers identified the cause as equipment failure.
