To the Editor:

I would like to thank H&R Block for sponsoring the Caps for Cancer competition at the Wilson County Fair this year. Each person who entered or donated a cap is special indeed for caring for others.

There can only be so many awards given during any event, and we congratulate the winners in the individual categories. They are Catherine Brown, Lee C. Brown, Leighann Brown, Gloria Farrell, Gloria Learmont, Petra Mitchell and Valerie Verhoeven.

Clubs that entered in the club showcase were Hartsville Senior Center, first place; Lebanon First United Methodist Church, second place; Tuckers Crossroads FCE Club, third place; and Monday Yarn Tanglers.

The real winners of this will be patients at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, and on behalf of them, thank you to each and every one who had a part in the competition this year. We will be donating more than 100 caps when the fair has concluded.
